Avid Core is seeking a junior-level communications specialist with strong writing and editing skills to support a federal government client in Washington, D.C. We’re looking for a passionate, detail-oriented person interested in improving public engagement processes.  


The position is remote, with the expectation to attend meetings at the client site in D.C. as required. There is an opportunity to travel throughout the United States.

Salary Range: $55,000-$62,000, based on experience and qualifications 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Assist with the development and implementation of communications strategies  
  • Draft website copy, media releases, emails, and letters 
  • Review correspondence and develop draft responses 
  • Ensure correspondence compliance according to the appropriate federal government style guide 
  • Develop informational materials such as blog posts, brochures, handouts, and briefing presentations 
  • Conduct research and draft descriptions that ensure complex concepts are accessible to the general public 
  • Provide logistical support for in-person and virtual meetings and events including taking notes and preparing meeting summaries 
  • Develop, audit, and review content repository for accuracy and quality in an ongoing manner  
  • Address feedback from internal stakeholders to update content  
  • Other duties as assigned 

Qualifications/Skills: 

  • 1-5 years of business writing experience  
  • Proficiency with the full Microsoft suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint) required 
  • Exceptional editing skills to ensure deliverables submitted to the client for final approval are error-free 
  • Experience with WebEx, Zoom, and other virtual meeting platforms 
  • Spanish-language proficiency (desired but not required) 
  • Ability to obtain public trust security clearance

Education: 

Bachelor’s degree, preferably in writing, public relations, communications, journalism, or a similar field
